Notes for Larry Thurman Dominy
Obituary from Marilyn Dominy:
Larry Thurman Dominy, the only child of Bernice Witte Dominy and Thurman Dominy traveled to the Land Of Milk & Honey just before midnight on Thursday Dec. 1st, 2016. Larry was a Type One diabetic for all most 60 years and passed at home from diabetes & dementia.

Larry was born on Nov. 7, 1940 in the home of his maternal grandparents, Fred Henry Witte & Lulu Deliah Van Allen. They lived on Spring Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At about the age of 6 he moved to Irene St. with his parents.

His childhood was spent hoping for ice so he could glide on the pond at Franke Park or any patch of ice was good enough to skate on. If there wasn’t any ice he could be found riding his bike or playing baseball or any outside activity. He often went with his dad to repair furnaces.

Larry attended Franklin Elementary School & North Side High School. He graduated in 1959 & married Eva Dayton that year.

Larry went to college and became an Electrical Engineer.
He worked many odd jobs to put himself through school. About a year or so after graduating from college he got a job with Magnavox of Fort Wayne & lived in Fort Wayne until the summer of 1980. Magnavox became Philips and the Philips company moved 100’s of people to Knoxville, TN. Larry was with Philips 30 years when he retired & had been a department manager for a number of years. While with Philips Larry was sent on several trips to Holland to discuss the newest & greatest in TV production. Being in Holland gave him an opportunity to travel Europe.

Larry met his wife Marilyn Costanza Dominy in Seymour, TN in Nov. of 1988 & they were married on March 4th, 1989. They lived in Seymour, TN until 2002 when they moved to
Moab, Utah, Marilyn’s home town. Moab proved too small for Larry and they moved to Fort Wayne in Nov 2010.

Larry enjoyed traveling and took his family on many vacations across the U.S. He was a man who could build or repair just about anything. He had an extensive collection of tools & was happy to put them to use. He loved music and had a turn table & many albums. Larry loved all animals but especially cats & had five indoor only special friends.

Larry is survived by Marilyn his wife of 26 years & Eva Ruffin the mother of his children & his son Robert (Carol) of Glencoe, CA & his daughter Michele (Wing) Wong & grandchildren Alex & Kate of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his paternal aunt Carole McBride & Harter, Flory, Witte, McBride & Witzengrueter cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents & his paternal grandparents Daniel Dominy & Alva Schroeder Dominy of Churubusco, IN.

At his request cremation will take place.
