Harry Terwilliger
Harry Clark Terwilliger, a former Prineville resident, died Sept.15, 1996, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was 92. At hisrequest, no service was held.
Mr. Terwilliger was born Aug. 2, 1904, in a log house his fatherbuilt in Cove, Minn. Steven Bull and Mina Augusta (Clark) Terwilligerwere his parents. Mr. Terwilliger moved to Oregon with his family in1910. They lived in Ontario until 1923, then moved to Bend. He marriedHelen Rebecca Sumner in Bend in May, 1925.
He worked as a grocer in Bend, Redmond and Prineville for theMcMarr Grocery Stores, which later became Safeway. He worked for Art andSylvain Michel in Prineville. Mr. Terwilliger and his wife bought theGreenwood Grocery in Bend in 1936. They sold it in 1955.
Helen Terwilliger died in 1967. Mr. Terwilliger married Laura (Segehdahl)in 1969, and they lived in Prineville until May, 1995, when they move toBend.
He was actively involved in numerous civic organizations,including the Odd Fellows, Elks and Rotary. He also bowled on the seniorleague in Prineville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jo and Jack Rhodenand Peggy and Gerald Jaques, all of Prineville; step-children IvanSegerdahl of Aloha and Karen Gray of Richland, Wash.; nephew Robert K.Moody, LaGrande; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren andgreat-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made toa charity of choice.
