Slater was born in Pennsylvania accompanied his parent to Ohio, where hisfather (Henry) purchased his farm from John Graham in WashingtonTownship.
He like his brothers and sister was early Pedogogue, which he followedtil his marriage, building his home on the north west cornet of hisfather's farm, then entering the pursuit of farming until his death in1937.
