In 1838 Joseph came from Alfred, NY via Great Lakes (Buffalo toMilwaukee) with two friends. They walked from Milwaukee to what laterbecame Milton, WI. They built a log cabin and two of them went back toAlfred, NY to settle up their business. Joseph and family with 8 grownpeople with 4 covered wagons left NY last week in Jan. Arrived at cabinMar 4., 1839. A cold rid, fording rivers.
